SAUL RAMIREZ
Artist, Poet, Art Historian
Saul Ramirez (they/them) received their BFA in Studio Art and their BA in Art History at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and is currently working on their MFA in Painting & Drawing at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. They begun their undergrad studying physics and astronomy and much of their work explores multidisciplinary methods mixing science, history poetry, primarily under the context of painting. Saul’s work primarily explores themes of intimacy, family, and spirituality in color, language and myth. The works are woven out of diverse objects, ideas, and stories from the past, activating them in different ways exploring the intersections of civics, and social work. In Saul’s practice, art serves as a tool for deepening the relationship between queerness, homemaking, and memory in the hope of transforming their art into an investment in community.
